Black Moors (Carassius auratus) are a member of the fantail goldfish family. For contrast in any aquarium, the velvety black of Moors forms a striking and beautiful combination.
They have black metallic scales with a short round body and a split tail fin. A black moor's most prominent feature is their telescoping eyes. They range in size from 1.5" to as large as 10".
Black moors, as their names states are black in color. However, they can change in color depending on their age, ranging from a gray color when they are very young to shades of red appearing on the fish when they have some age on them.
